My name is Frida and all I want is a sunny spot.

My name is Frida and all I want is a sunny spot.

And food.
And a lap.
And more food.
And being petted.
And licking faces.

Did I mention food?
Also barking at things.

Saturday, 1 December 2012

My pack is very weird. When I show them how strong and fearless I am by barking loudly at other dogs and strangers, they yell at me. But when I'm all meek and look sadly at them, they give me yummy food.

Mommy says it's a good thing I came with a name from Mommy Sarah.  If she'd named me after my personality (doggonality?), I'd either be "Shadow" for the way I follow her around all the time, or "Puddles", because I go pee pee inside sometimes if I get excited or nervous or scared, or sometimes just because I forget that outside is the right place to go pee pee, and inside is the wrong place.  Mommy can be so mean sometimes!

I have tried to be a very good doggie and learn a lot of commands. I know that "Off" means get off the furniture, "Lap" allows me onto a lap (though sometimes I can get on without that:), "Walkies" means to walk nicely next to whoever's walking me, "Eat" is permission to nom the nommy nommy food, "Sit" means to sit down, and "Stay" means to keep sitting even if Mommy or Daddy goes away into a house for a while (that one is really hard, though, when there are interesting things nearby).

I also run to get the rope and the penguin and the monkey and the rats, and I scare the evil birds away and I wake people up when they sleep too late and I go into my bag and is really quiet when they do other stuff.

I know I must have been doing really good, 'cause the other evening they left two big pieces of pizza on the coffee table, just for me! I never had pizza before, and it was sooo good, and there was sooo much, I could hardly eat anything the next day. Only doggies who have been very good get that kind of food. Daddy Kusch was yelling about something at the coffee table later that evening, but I have no idea what that was about.

What's dignity? And why does Mommy say I don't have any??

Yesterday Mommy took me into the city! Soooo many new things to sniff! Then we went to a place with lots of noisy machines that smelled like soap, and Mommy went so far to the other end of the room to put towels in one of the machines that I got so scared I wriggled out of my harness and ran over to her.

We sat at a table near the opening to outside, and I could see and smell everyone who walked by.  Every time another dog walked by, I would BARK BARK BARK and Mommy would say "no!" and "quiet!", but I'm not sure what those mean, so I just kept barking.  One time I barked at a person walking two dogs, but when I smelled the person and the dog, I realized I knew them!  It was my former Mommy from before Mommy, whose name is Sarah, and my former brother Tussot!  I was soooo happy to see and smell them!  I wagged so hard my whole body wiggled!  Mommy Sarah had a new foster doggy named Mali, one from the shelter where I used to stay before I lived with Mommy Sarah, who was very shy and wouldn't come sniff me, so I barked at him.

Mommy Sarah is trying to find a forever home for Mali.  He's very quiet, and very shy, but very well behaved.  If you don't mind the fact that he has bad teeth, you could be his forever Mommy and Daddy!  Mali is bigger than me, but smaller than Tussot.

Tussot and Mali and I hung out on the carpet at the opening of the place, and panted and panted while Mommy Sarah and Mommy Mickey talked.  It was hot yesterday!  I could handle it, as my tummy has almost no fur, and my white spots aren't as hot as my black spots, but poor Tussot and Mali have lots more fur, and it's almost all black!  Poor fellas!  Mommy Sarah held a little box and told us to look at her, and it made clicking noises.

I was so tired when we came home, that I just flopped right on my back in Mommy's arms, put my little paws up, and went right to sleep!  I didn't get to nap for very long, though, because we went outside again, and we met new people!  It was Daddy Koosh's Mommy and Daddy and Little Sister!  Daddy Koosh's Mommy and Sister petted me and gave me treats, and told me how cute and sweet I am!  They gave me laps to sit on and lots of petting.  It was a GOOD day for a little doggy.

Today there was a new room next to Daddy Kusch's room! And it smells like outside! It has a sunny spot, and Mommy put my new carpet (which is like Rembrandt's carpet, only it's me-sized, and it's mine!) out in a sunny spot! I am such a happy doggy!

Walnuts! Walnuts are are the best toy evar! I got to play with some when we were down at the same place we were having a grill party, and they are sooo much fun. They roll around when I grab at them, they clink and clank and bounce, and they are hard and crunchy but with a yummy soft middle. I love them to pieces!

It was fun to be down there again. I played with the little kid, had him feed me strawberries, got to ride on one of his tractors, found the hole in the hedge, and zoooomed around the little shed as fast as my four little legs could carry me. I was a very tired dog when we got back home.

I miss Daddy Kusch, though. He took off somewhere, and now there's nobody there when Mommy is taking her showers. I hope he comes back soon. I'm making do with sleeping on his bed where I can still smell him.

Today my friend Rembrandt was over for a visit. I showed him all around the house, and he sniffed at absolutely everything! His Mommy brought a little carpet that was just fantastic to lie on, sooo soft! I want one. Rembrandt is a nice guy, sorta quiet, much larger than me, but really skinny, and all grey. He looks somewhat spooky, really, but he's a friend and fun to play with, so I hope he comes over again.

I love it when Mommy holds me in the crook of her arm, and I rest my head on her chest, and she tells me I'm the cutest little doggy in the whole wide world.

A poor little doggy am I. A few days ago, I was jumping down from Daddy Koosh's lap, and I slid on the floor. After that, my left shoulder really hurt and walking was hard. Later that day, Mommy took me to the vet AGAIN, and I got an owie prick AGAIN. Although, strangely enough, a little while later my shoulder didn't hurt so much anymore, even though walking was still hard.

Ever since then, Mommy has been keeping me on her lap almost all the time, and she hardly takes me walkies at all!  She won't let me run, she carries me most places, she won't throw my rat for me to chase, and she doesn't even take me to the park and let me off my leash like she usually does at least every other day or so.  Mommy is SO mean.  I can TOO walk and run now!

I'm very confused. I'd just gotten used to Maria being here, then Daddy Lars took me to the vet and then to two meetings at the office (where I was being very good and quiet, and didn't leak any confidential information) and then back to the vet and then back to the office (where I was being so good I got pieces of pork) and then home again - and then Maria was gone!

Then in the evening Danielle came and in the morning she left again and then two other people dropped by briefly and looked at the floor and stuff. Sooo confusing! Whyfor everybody come-go-come-go?

At least the vet didn't do anything that hurt me this time, and I got treats and Leberwurst. Nomnom!

We have a new person in the house: Maria Widz is here, sleeping on the couch (when she's sleeping). She's sooo cute. She came in early Sunday and has been hanging out with me sooo much (though she never lets me lick her, spoil-sport). We've been going into town, where she tied a balloon to me and gave me cherries and bread and much more. We went to game night where she gave me food in a bottle, but it was way easy to get it out.

Last night they all started poking at this little lump they found on my side. I wish they wouldn't, it hurts when they do that. I wonder what it is.

Daddy Lars has been teaching me to "stay", and I'm getting sooo good at it. It's really easy - I just have to sit down, and then I get a treat! Don't know why he walks far away first, but that's ok with me.

It has been a very tiring weekend for this little dog. Saturday we went for a looong time on the S-Bahn (but Mommy didn't disappear this time, phew!) and drove in a car and then got to a biiig house with an even biiigger garden. There were lots of kids and people and grilled meat (my favorite thing!) and sooo many smells! And then the people starting throwing around this biiig ball, almost scary big, but it was really really fun to chase when they threw it. Also fun to chase the littler ball that Mommy and Daddy Lars were kicking back and forth. So much excitement!

Today my parent's friend Maria arrived from Sweden, she's very sweet and cuddles me a lot (but does not let me lick her). We went down to the city and there were all manner of booths and things going on. Sooo much noise and confusion. I even got some yummy yummy sausage from Mommy - much better than the cherries. But eventually I was so tired I could hardly chase things. Now I sleep.

Mommy gave me her fingers to sniff, and she smelled like bacon!  And she let me lick and lick and lick her fingers and it was the best thing EVAR!

Friday, 15 June 2012

The big box in the food room keeps making scary noises!  BARK BARK BARK!  Must protect Mommy from the scary box, even though she keeps putting smelly things in it and taking not-smelly things out of it.  I don't understand today.

Why can't Mommy and Daddy Lars understand that I NEED to be on Mommy's lap all the time?? If I let her out of my sight, she might LEAVE!

I peed on the floor in the hopes of driving home my point.

I woke up today, and Mommy's still home! All is right in my little doggy world! Mommy even fed me breakfast! After breakfast, Mommy gave me pieces of butter! They were kind of hard and not-buttery in the middle, but I didn't care, 'cuz butter is yummy! Daddy Lars took me for morning walkies, and when we came back, Mommy was still there! Then Mommy played rat with me for so long that I got all tired and had to take a nap! And when I woke up, Mommy was right next to me, right where she was when I fell asleep!

I missed Mommy so much!  She gave me lots of cuddles and kisses and let me lick her face for a really, really long time last night, so she must have missed me too!  I was so afraid Mommy was never coming home!

Also Daddy Kusch is home too!  He cuddled me and let me lick his face a whole lot, so he must have missed me too!  But mostly he just slept yesterday, and he's not even up yet today, so I'm confused.

The Big Absence, Day 8.

The Big Absence, Day 8.

Is Mommy ever going to come back to me? It's been over a week now, and I miss her. Maybe Daddy should start finding a new Mommy - unfortunately, he sucks at it, even though I do my best to charm everybody around me.

We went to the office today, it's very exciting there! Especially because once I was there and got really good meat! And there are such strange smells and sounds - there are machines that sounds really really scary. It's good I had a bone with me I could attack.

The other day, we met another doggie that looked almost exactly like me. It was a Jack Russell, so a bit stockier, but with the same coloring as me. Its Mommy was interesting too, she had no arms, just hands at her shoulders. I'm proud that she still cares for a doggie.

I also finally managed to kill one of the rats, its white fluffy entrails coming out all over the house. Those things are very hard to kill.

I hope Mommy returns soon. It's just not the same without her.

The Big Absence, Day 6.

The Big Absence, Day 6.

I feel slighted. I only got three walks today. Three! What hss this world come to? Granted, the first one was to the park, since we ran into Rembrandt and his parents and followed them up there, where many more doggies were doing their morning walks. And the second one was out to Schloss Nymphenburg, which has a lot of walking area and birds, but was too hot to stay at for long.

For the last one, it rained, and it's raining more and more now. Fortunately, there's a warm laptop here that I can rest my head on as I sleep through it.

I've totally figured out the good spot to be in late afternoon, though. There's a period where the sun shines at the couch, which means it's not just a sun beam - it's a comfy sun beam! Best of both worlds. I could lie there for hours and tan my oddly spotted belly skin.

The Big Absence, day 5

The Big Absence, day 5

It's a dog's life, after all. Especially when I've been to the park not once but twice during the day. But that was yesterday. Today was not as exhausting, but more unpleasant. We went back to the vet, and I had yet another needleprick - I even started bleeding from this one! All the leberwurst in the world is not world that kind of torture.

Speaking of torture, Daddy has started torturing me with treats. He'll make me sit, then show me the treat but back away, making me stay sitting until he has placed the treat on the ground and says "eat". How am I supposed to sit still when there's a yummy treat right there to nom on? Unfair!

Otherwise, life is good. I got to play with the big doggie Rembrandt and the Nice Lady who is his Mommy. He is just shock-full of energy, that one. I ended up sitting on the Nice Lady's lap even though there was a big park to explore, I was so tired. I still find the park fascinating, though, there's always stuff to sniff.

Day 3 of The Big Absence

Day 3 of The Big Absence

I'm getting used to being with just Daddy Lars. He keeps taking me on long walks every day, and I was so tired yesterday that I couldn't even write in my diary. We'd walked through Englischer Garten to Schwabing and down to the office before going home and resting. Boy, was I tired.

Today we went to the vet - my favorite thing! Not! Sure, I've been coughing a bit more than usual, but was this really necessary? It turned out to be just a cold, but they still had to stick with needle. Owie. And to add insult to injured, we got rained on when going back.

The days are starting to flow together. We walk, we sleep, we eat, I sleep some more while Daddy Lars (I'll just call him Daddy until Daddy Küsch comes back) does more stuff in the house.

Day 1 of The Big Absence

Day 1 of The Big Absence

Today started all strange, with big boxes and going down to the rails. Then Mommy and Daddy Küsch went into the S-Bahn without me! I couldn't believe my little puppy eyes. Daddy Lars took me down stairs and up again, and we went into the S-Bahn as well, but no matter how much I looked, I could not find them.

Daddy Lars took me off the S-Bahn again at Isartor, and we started walking around town. Sooo many things to sniff and mark! We went by the big screw store, the Tesla shop and many other places.

I always make sure to walk nicely next to Daddy Lars, as he frequently rewards me for it with nice treats. He also tries to make me sit while we're out and about, but with so much around us, I'll be damned if I do it without seeing the treat first.

We crossed the Isar and went up through the parks on the East side. We peered into Deutches Museum, since Daddy Lars had found signs describing the various planets and wanted to see more. Good thing we didn't go to them all, going all the way down to the Tierpark would have been a very long walk.

Finally we got to turn the snout homewards, but we walked the whole way, no U-Bahn this time. I was so hoping Mommy was there when we came back, but she wasn't. Sad puppy-face! The S-Bahn must have taken her far away. I better stick closely to Daddy Lars, he's all I have now. I'm listening to every sound in the stairway, hoping it's Mommy, but no luck yet.

It's difficult to stay awake now, but I must be prepared if Mommy comes back. I'm keeping my rear legs ready to jump at a moments notice, but they keep slipping down, and my eyelids are sooo heavy...
